Eligibility and requirements
Funding limits The basic tax credit rate is 14%. This rate may be increased to 30% if the corporation is not controlled, directly or indirectly, by one or more persons not resident in Canada and its total assets for the preceding taxation year, including those of associated corporations, is $50 million or less If the total assets of the corporation are between $50 million and $75 million, the 30% rate is reduced linearly The increased rate applies to expenses of $3 million, even if the corporation is claiming the tax credit for more than one research contract
How it works
To qualify for this tax credit: The company must have a university research contract with an eligible academic institution or an eligible research contract with an eligible public research center or consortium. The company must operate a business in Canada. The R&D work must be performed in Quebec.
